Warren Buffet: Stop Coddling the Super-Rich
[excerpt] OUR leaders have asked for “shared sacrifice.” But when they did the asking, they spared me. I checked with my mega-rich friends to learn what pain they were expecting. They, too, were left untouched.
The rich often don't pay themselves a salary to avoid having to pay income tax, but they pay a paltry 15% tax on capital gains. By contrast, the average wage-earner pays up to 41% in income tax with an average tax liabilty of 36%. How is this "shared sacrifice"?
