The World’s Most Expensive Dog

The red Tibetan Mastiff, who was sold for 10million Chinese yuan, or £945,000, happily wagged his tail as he was handed over to his coal baron owner at a private breeding base in Qingdao city, in east China's Shandong province.

March 2011 - His multi-millionaire new master will need plenty more expendable cash to look after the well-groomed pooch because the hefty price tag doesn't factor in Big Splash's diet – enough chicken and beef to feed a growing 180lb dog, spiced up with Chinese delicacies such as sea cucumber and abalone.

Tibetan Mastiffs have been known to weigh as much as 290lb.
