Stockbrokers Worse Than Psychopaths

[Spiegel] Researchers at the University of St. Gallen recently released a study that aimed to answer why rogue stockbrokers blow billions in financial markets with criminal trading schemes?

[Spiegel] According to a new study conducted at a Swiss university, it may be because share traders behave more recklessly and are more manipulative than psychopaths.

The article describes that the study conducted by the University of St. Gallen was conducted by researchers who measured two key traits of 28 professional stockbrokers: their ability to cooperate and ego.

Unlike the base characteristic of an average plutocrat to need to one-up his neigbor with material goods, traders took this behavior a step further. In their need to better themselves materially, they were more likely to engage in behavior that would actually harm his competitor rather than simply match his aquisition.
