Original Screw More pastor Ed Young linked to luxury

Ed Young, the mega-evangelist, pastor at the Dallas-based Fellowship Church in Grapevine is famous for his 2008 sermon titled, "Seven Days of Sex." His god-given celebrity has entitled him to jet around the country in a French-made Falcon 50 private jet; estimated value, $8.4 million ... that church staff members claim doesn't exist. FAA records prove otherwise.

Mr. Young, who receives a $1 million per year pastor's salary, in addition to a parsonage allowance of $240,000, lives in a modest 10,000 square foot hovel worth $1.5 million in the Lake Grapevine slum outside Dallas.

Turns out that he's never mentioned the private jet to his expansive flock, nor that he's been using it to travel to exotic vacation locations like Bahamas and Chetumal, Mexico.

A spokesperson for Mr. Young asserted that he "travels globally offering messages of inspiration and transformation to his peers and other pastors." [WFAA-TV]

Forgive my giggling, but this excuse is a comedic load of excrement. Ed Young is a charlatan, a liar, and a thief and he steals in the name of the god he purports to represent.

Young hasn't been accused of breaking any earthly laws, but his piety is certainly questionable. The fact that his flock hasn't dragged him outside of his church and stoned him to death pretty much says all that needs to be said about the state of modern christianity.

But, on the bright side, Mr. Young claims that he reimburses the church for his travels. We believe you Ed ... Enjoy your Pina Colada.
