Rick Perry’s Personal Defense Fund

Rick Perry's personal security detail costs Texas taxpayers approx. $400,000 per month.

According to a report by the Texas Tribune, an examination of Texas public safety department records found that the agency spent more than $1.4 million on out-of-state trips between September to mid-December, including more than $397,000 between Sept. 5 and Sept. 28 this year.

Perry is the only candidate vying for the Republican nomination whose security is paid for by public funds.
