Paul Krugman Fisks Plutocrats

Krugman points out in his NYT op-ed from October 9 called the "Panic of the Plutocrats" that it's the one percenters who are being "un-American".

[NYT] So who’s really being un-American here? Not the protesters, who are simply trying to get their voices heard. No, the real extremists here are America’s oligarchs, who want to suppress any criticism of the sources of their wealth.

Occupy Wall Street doesn't seem to have lost any steam, but we fear that a movement without a leader and a clear voice will simply fade after the intiail furor dies down. Their message is absolutely correct and perfectly valid. The 99% has been fleeced for the last time by the greed of the 1%.

The near-constant tarring of the Occupy message by members of the MSM is indicative of the stench of plutocratic influence. Claims of "socialism" or "Marxism" or "lunacy" by FOX news and their paid-for-by-Koch-dollars acolytes is so pathetically contradictory it's hard not laugh.

Nonetheless, when 50% of our population revels in ignorance, we have to worry that big money will find a way to maintain its iron-fisted grip on discourse.
