Luxury condo developer gets federal earmark to build public walkway

A condo complex overlooking the New York City skyline was gifted with an $8 million federal earmark to cover the cost of building a public walkway and park that had been an agreed upon condition for development when the local government approved the project. The project was to have been paid for entirely by the developer, not by tax payers.

Thanks to two sleazy New Jersey Democrats, Frank R. Lautenberg and Robert Menendez, both of whom have extensive ties to the developer, tax payers will be footing the bill for their benefactor's pet project. The Washington Times found federal records show that both democrats have received a combined $100,000.00 in campaign contributions from the developers of the Maxwell Place Luxury Condo complex.

It also turns out that Mr. Menedez employed the lobbyist for the developers on his staff when the project was being considered by lawmakers for federal funding back in 2005.

Of course, both lawmakers assert that the hefty campaign contributions they received had zero impact on their decision to aggressively pursue federal funding on behalf of their benefactors. Absolute rubbish.

Once again, lawmakers prove their business is the business of lies, deceit, and favor. Screw the tax payer.
