Kwame’s Buddy Extorted $58.5 Million
Federal authorities indicated contractor Bobby Ferguson, close friend of disgraced former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, on charges of bribery, extortion and money laundering this past week.
[Detroit News] Indicted contractor Bobby Ferguson obtained more than $58.5 million by extorting contractors and through other illegal conduct, and he spent a fraction of the money on his kids' college education, his girlfriend and construction equipment, according to federal court records.
According to a Detroit News investigation from 2008, Ferguson won approximately $170 million in no-bid city contracts when Kilpatrick was Mayor.
We'll be curious to see how deep the corruption goes once the trial gets underway in May.
