Polo Club Founder Facing DUI Conviction Adopts Adult Girlfriend to Protect Fortune

In a sleazy legal maneuver to protect his fortune, John Goodman, 48, a wealthy polo club founder, formally adopted his girlfriend Heather Laruso Hutchins, 42. Goodman is facing civil DUI charges for drunk driving and leaving the scene of the accident after he killed a 23 year old.

[ABC] None of Goodman's biological children have reached the age of 35, the pre-determined age at which they can control their trust funds. Since Hutchins is over the age of 35, her adoption entitles her immediately to a one-third beneficiary interest in the trust.

Astounding. If after review, the courts do not overturn this sham adoption, the judges themselves should be put on trial for allowing laws to be rewritten in favor of wealthy defendents.
