Google CEO Tried To Have Political Donation Scrubbed From Internet Archives

The New York Times reported that an upcoming book about Google claims that CEO Eric Schmidt attempted to have information about a political donation he made deleted from the Internet giant's search engine.

The Times said Schmidt's request is recounted in "In the Plex: How Google Thinks, Works and Shapes Our Lives," a book by technology journalist Steven Levy.

Schmidt, openly endorsed Democratic candidate Barack Obama during the 2008 presidential election.

Google co-founder Larry Page will be replacing Schmidt as CEO on April 4, 2011. Schmidt will remain with Google as executive chairman.
