Former Philadelphia Schools Superintendent Given $1 Million Buyout, Files For Unemployment

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Former Philadelphia schools superintendent Arlene Ackerman, who was given a nearly $1-million tax-payer funded buyout earlier this year, has applied for unemployment.

The real question here is why was this woman given a million dollars in the first place? Especially when the district was facing a $620 million deficit.
