Former Health Care Swindler Rick Scott Elected Governor of Florida

In the closest elections in Florida gubernatorial history, a campaign heralded for it's dirty attack ads has been won by Republican Rick Scott a former CEO for Columbia/HCA who made a fortune swindling senior citizens and Medicare.

[PBDN] Barely 1% of the vote separated candidates Alex Sink and Rick Scott. Alex Sink conceded the Florida race for governor to Rick Scott in a televised news conference on Wednesday morning.

Scott, who used $73 million of his own fortune to fund his campaign, emphasized common conservative and Tea Party themes — lower taxes, a repeal of healthcare reform and smaller goverment, while questioning Sink’s ability to lead.

Scott was forced out as chief executive of Columbia/HCA in 1997 as the federal government investigated the hospital chain on Medicare fraud charges. The company later pleaded guilty to 14 felonies related to fraudulent business and Medicare billing practices and paid $1.7 billion in fines to settle the largest case of Medicare fraud in United States history.

Three cheers for Florida! Congratulations electing a man who became a millionaire by stealing from the elderly. The irony cannot be understated.
