Feds seek Pittsburgh-area man in pyramid scheme

PITTSBURGH—Federal prosecutors are searching for a former Pittsburgh-area man charged with running a nearly $2 million pyramid scheme.

The 15-count indictment charges 34-year-old Jason Unangst, formerly of Wexford, with fraud and money laundering. The U.S. Attorney's Office on Wednesday released a photo of Unangst because they've been unable to locate him since the indictment was unsealed last month.

Unangst is accused of defrauding several people out of $1.98 million by persuading them to invest in a mobile home venture. Prosecutors say it was actually a pyramid scheme.

The scam allegedly ran from 2003 to 2005.
