Ex-Norbourg CEO Vincent Lacroix granted bail

MONTREAL — After serving a sixth of his sentence for bilking thousands of investors of $100 million, Vincent Lacroix is heading to a halfway house even though he faces more than 100 other fraud charges.

Lacroix, 42, was granted $5,000 bail and a $50,000 undertaking Wednesday, while awaiting a September trial on more than 100 fraud and conspiracy charges stemming from an RCMP investigation. He'll be released from detention as soon as he fulfils all the conditions, such as giving up his passport.

Lacroix was already granted parole at the end of last month for the 51 Quebec Securities Act violations he committed and for which he was sentenced to 12 years in prison — a sentence reduced on appeal to 8 1/2 years.
