Price drops at the high end of the market were so steep that a sale wouldn't cover the debt. In other words, high-end homeowners face the same problems that plague the not-so-rich-and-famous.

They are just bigger assholes:

1. Uber Star Nicolas Cage lost two New Orleans homes -- one in the French Quarter, the other in the Garden District -- worth a combined $6.8 million
2. Happy Days star Erin Moran owed $315,930 on her Palmdale, Calif., home
3. Real Housewife Lisa Wu-Hartwell owed $2.9 million on her Forsyth County, Ga. home
4. Baseball legend Lenny Dykstra owed $12 million of $18.5 million on his 6.5-acre property in Thousand Oaks (former home of Wayne Gretzky)
5. Newspaper heiress Veronica Hearst lost her 52-room, 28,000-square-foot mansion at auction to New Stream Capital for $22 million
