‘Butcher of Hama’ living in £10 million London townhome

After being accused of orchestrating the massacre of 38,000 civilians in the Syrian town of Hama in 1982, the former Vice President of Syria Rifaat al-Assad has been living the life of luxury jetting between homes in Spain, France, and London.

The Daily Telegraph reports that while Mahar al-Assad - the bloodthirsty brother of the current President of Syria Bashar al-Assad - can expect to be hunted down and tried for crimes against humanity if the current regime is toppled, his uncle, dubbed “The Butcher of Hama”, is living in luxury in a £10 million townhouse in Mayfair.

Rifaat al-Assad has not been charged by the international courts with any crimes, however there is speculation that this may change.
