Baltimore’s Mayor, Sheila Dixon, Redefines Holiday Spirit And Steals From Children
Ms. Dixon initially faced seven charges of theft, misappropriation of fiduciary duty and misconduct in office. Prosecutors alleged she stole around $1,500 worth of gift cards meant for needy families and that were donated by developers, including Ronald H. Lipscomb, whom Ms. Dixon dated in 2003 and 2004. Ms. Dixon was accused of using the cards to buy herself items at Target, Toys “R” Us, Old Navy and Best Buy — including, according to court documents, a PlayStation 2, a digital camcorder, DVDs and CDs. During the trial, two of the charges were thrown out for lack of evidence. [NYT]
Dixon was convicted on December 1, 2009 of one count of embezzlement for being a selfish, entitled moron who was apparently "tone deaf" to ethical issues.
Oh, those pesky ethical issues.
It shouldn't make a bit of difference whether she stole $1500 or $150,000 worth of gift cards. She is an elected official who stole from her constituents. End of story.
Dare we mention that she also gave one of the gift cards to a lobbyist, Mary Pat Fannon, whose household income exceeds a half million dollars per year? No, we dare not.
Dixon will be in court again in March facing two perjury charges levied against her for failing to disclose gifts.
Throw her out of public office forever and kick her square in the ass as she exits the premises.
