Amid Furor, Goldman Sachs chief executive Lloyd Blankfein returns 2008 bonus

SEVEN company leaders at a Goldman Sachs have turned down multimillion-dollar bonuses this year amid mounting anger over excessive boardroom salaries. All seven company leaders have been forced to survive on their base annual salaries of approximately $600,000.00.

If not for public outrage over the ridiculously absurd pay-for-performance bonuses these unbelievable crooks had planned to pay themselves for their roles in devaluing Goldman by nearly 70%, these seven men would have accepted hundreds of millions of dollars for their incompetence.

The group comprises presidents and co-chief operating officers Jon Winkelried and Gary Cohn, chief financial officer David Viniar and three vice chairmen - J Michael Evans, Michael Sherwood and John Weinberg.

CEO, Lloyd Blankfein, 2007 bonus: $US 68.5 million

COO, Mr Winkelried and Mr Cohn, 2007 bonus: received $104.5 million

CFO, David Viniar, , 2007 bonus: $88 million

Goldman Sachs recently fired 3200 employees, or 10 per cent of its its global workforce.
